Hugo Chavez and Venezuela Essay - 1210 Words
Venezuelaââ¬â¢s political prospects changed in 1999 when Hugo Chavez became president. Starting his presidency, Chavez created a new constitution for Venezuela, and the countryââ¬â¢s name was changed to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Since then, the country had a total change as it underwent a system of socialism, as the oil company and many other private businesses were nationalized. In this socialist system, revenues generated from the oil industry were invested in social programs to help the countryââ¬â¢s poorer population. On the other hand, Chavez confiscated many properties from those of the middle and upper class, transferring them to state ownership, and also created animosity with other nations, defying them in manyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦dollar in February (ââ¬Å"Venezuela More Equal, Less Stableâ⬠). Critics say Chavez was an economy destroyer as he nationalized most companies while interfering in others, thereby scaring off and reducing foreign investment (ââ¬Å"The Many Ways to See Chavezâ⬠). Similarly, oil specialists in Venezuela were fired by Chavez and replaced by his followers, the party loyalists. Foreign oil contracts were completely changed or were cancelled, making investment in Venezuela a risky business for international firms (ââ¬Å"The Many Ways to See Chavezâ⬠). Kathryn Rooney Vera of the investment banking firm Bulltick Capital reported to CNN that ââ¬Å"These factors have really led to shortages in basic staples. Venezuelans, for example, have suffered from a lack of, in some cases, baby diapers, or flour, or corn meal ... so this is just an example of the distortions in the economy that have been a result of Chavismo. Such is also the case according to a report issued by The Human Rights Watch, which claimed that Chavez was stifling the ability of journalists, human rights defenders, and other Venezuelans to exercise their fundamental rights (ââ¬Å"Enemy of Human Rightsâ⬠). It is not only Venezuelans and critics who see Chavez as an evil person, but economists feel the same way about him. Why Creationism Should Be Taught - 919 Words
Vanessa Alacantar was a high school student who wrote an argumentative essay entitled ââ¬Å"Why creationism should be taught in schools.â⬠As can be ascertained from the title, the authorââ¬â¢s position is that the theory of creation should be taught in schools alongside evolutionary studies. She writes the essay with a sure and almost condescending tone, making certain claims out of context in addition to using faulty logic in what I personally see as an attempt to confuse the reader about the view opposite her own. She begins her essay by discussing how teaching creationism has been banned from the public school system. She goes into discussing how ever since the Scopes Trial, ââ¬Å"Evolution has been taught in schools thus pushing creationism aside, until its teaching was completely prohibited in schools,â⬠she says. Vanessa goes on to say that the theory of evolution itself is not even a scientific study. She makes this claim stating that it cannot be observed or v erified. She makes many claims to back up her statement about its unscientific nature, ranging from varying dog breedââ¬â¢s still all being dogs to statements where she says ââ¬Å"animals that are said to evolve from certain other animals have been proven to have no DNA or RNA similarities.â⬠Next she brings up the theory of creationism and states that it is as unproven as the theory of evolution. ââ¬Å"Creationism does have a bit more reasonable parts to it,â⬠she says, however she neglects to provide any examples to back up her point.Show MoreRelated Why Creationism Should Not Be Taught in Public Schools Essays1921 Words à |à 8 PagesA hotly debated topic concerning public schools centers on the origin of life. Handmade Purses Totes & Organizers
Question: Discuss about the Handmade Purses Totes Organizers. Answer: Applicable Environmental Factors: The production of an item affecting the environment and harming the ecological balance of the nature is not a desirable idea. Since the product chosen to be sold at Oxfam shop is the handicraft bag, it can be said that its production will have the least harmful impact on the environment. Unlike the disposable plastic bags, which can be deemed as a major source of pollution, the handicraft bags can be reused and recycled, and consequently will not contaminate the landmass or the water bodies (Mousa 2016). The handicraft bags will employ the use of a piece of cloth or paper that even if disposed will cause the least harm, and will never clog the water. Economic Factors: As far as the economic factors are concerned, it should be noted that these handicraft bags are usually the craft works, whereby the products will be made without the minimum intervention of machines or equipment. Consequently, these hand-made products can be produced at a very minimal cost. However, the people if Sydney usually have high preferences for stylish leather bags, and elegant plastic bags. Hence, of these bags are not sufficiently promoted, the bags are likely to lag behind (Lin et al. 2015). However, it is to be noted that with a limited number of distributors and sellers, the bargaining power of the seller and the distributor is likely to increase, leading to high labor rates and cost price and low profitability. This can be seen to be economically disadvantageous. Natural or Physical Factors: The lack of natural resources can be seriously threatening for an industry that is based on the production of naturally hand-made products. The handicraft bags usually need to employ the use of jute, paper, leather for the production purpose. For making the products aesthetically appealing, the use of paper mills as well as water mills becomes indispensible. In fact for the production of a dozen of handicraft bags, the use of a minimum of 400 gallons of water is a must. Besides, jute is also highly important for the production of fancy jute bags. Although Australia cannot be regarded as a highly water-abundant nation, the regions in Australia have sufficient water to facilitate the production of these bags (Donohue 2016). Besides, although Jute itself I not found abundantly in Australia, the same is imported from its top trading partner, Bangladesh, and hence these natural resources can be abundantly found and used for the production of these handicraft bags in Australia. Technological Factors: lthough as compared with the other products, the handicraft materials are usually manufactured and produced involving the dexterous skills and artistic power of the artisans, the use of new technology will help in improving the quality of the output. Although the primary target market is Sydney, global positioning of the product will help in drawing the attention of greater number of consumers. Hence, latest technology will need to be adopted for improving the durability of the fragile products, and for changing the manufacturing process as a whole. Besides, it is important to invest in technologically innovative machines to ensure that the final products have a perfect finish and glossy fabric so as to compete with the rival leather firms of Sydney. Cultural and Social Factors: The most important cultural factor likely to affect the production of handmade bags in Australia is that the nation enjoys a multicultural and dynamic population, as a result of which the residents of Sydney or Melbourne love exploring the traditional and cultural history of the rural and less known regions of the world (Kremmer and Symmons 2015). A large part of the Australian population comprises of the inhabitants of the Torres Strait, and thus is inherently drawn to the hand-made materials and will tend to buy the products having a rural association in them. The upper class and the upper middle class people of Australia have a natural love for things of fine texture and exquisite taste, and hence will tend to opt for the handicraft bags. However, since the price of the bags will be moderately high, the middle strata of the society are likely to have a lukewarm response to these products (Zivanpovick and Luck 2016). Micro Environmental Factors: The micro environmental factors of a product also largely affect the business prospect of an organization or the profitability of a product. First of all, as far as the employees are concerned, they are to be hired at a moderately high rate, as the production of hand-made bags would require intense labor. However, the unemployed youths of Australia should be employed and trained, as his would be cost-effective as well as an act promoting a social cause. The suppliers supplying the jute materials would be comparatively low in number, and hence they would always have an upper hand in the negotiation process (Donohue 2014). The competitor factor would play an important role, as the higher class of Australian people may tend to buy products from Bundy Bag, BagWorld and Crumpler, and hence media vehicles such as TV ads and social media tools should be used for promoting the social cause these products intend to support. The Sellers: Avenue Fair Trade can be chosen as the seller of the products, and as social enterprise, the organization employs the help of less privileged and physically challenged Australians for producing the handmade bags and other products. The vision of the selling organization is that the consumers are not only helping the organization, but are also supporting the food and life of the underprivileged residents of Australia. The Customers: As mentioned earlier, the consumers of the handmade products would be usually the residents of Sydney belonging to the upper middle class or the upper class of the society. This group of consumers, mostly the elite socialite class, would not only prefer to have distinguished products marked by a fine aesthetic taste, but would also like to uphold a social cause. The Public: The public, aware of the concerns of the Fair Trade would try its best to come forward and help the less privileged people in their own trivial ways. However, it is important to make the public aware of the fact how the production and sale of these articles help the poor and disabled people, and the same can be done via powerful promotional strategies. What else should you be aware of? Other main features of such assignment are a relatively small volume, presence of main theme and its subjective interpretation, free composition, inner semantic unity and the ease of narration. What is an essay and how to write it? There are several different forms of this assignment that college student can face, each of which differs by purpose and way of presenting the information, while the structure is always similar. One of the most common types is a narrative essay. However, it is possible to cope with it on your own. In this article, we will consider the main nuances of writing a narrative essay and give you a few effective tips that will help you handle this task faster and with fewer efforts.Guidelines On Writing A Narrative EssayThis is a sufficiently detailed story told. A narrative paper tells about what happened to someone at a certain time event. This type of paper has to possess all elements of a good story ââ¬â it should contain an introduction, a description of the place and time of the action, the plot itself, the characters, the culmination, and the final part. You have to state an understandable point of view. This type of work is written primarily with the authors point of view, but it is possible to present a story in a different light if one does not forget about his own view of a problem. Work out the morality of the chosen story. It is necessary to introduce ones own fundamental idea into the history under consideration through a thesis and make sure that all the constituent parts of this history support it. Work hard on a language of your paper. Words will be able to show certain emotions to readers; therefore, your choice of words should be approached with all responsibility.Useful Tips For Writing Narrative EssayIt is necessary to clearly define a fundamental idea of an essay before it is written. As a rule, a narrative essay should have a story and an analysis of this story. Narrative essay topics can be different but you can use a situation to illustrate it and show it in the way you want. Content should be interesting to readers, encourage them to read. It is highly recommended not to postpone process of writing an essay for the day preceding the last day. It takes more time to write a good work. It is necessary to avoid too l ong lists, unmarked lists within a paragraph, use of short words. What else? Pay attention to paragraphs, red lines, and establish logical links between all paragraphs this way you can achieve the integrity of your work. The theoretical positions used in your text should be presented in such a way that your understanding of their need for this work is obvious. Use the citation correctly. In the process of writing a paper, the work reflects not only an authors opinion but also the quotes of other authors who worked on this topic. They are used in an essay to strengthen their own position. Choose them carefully, while evaluating their significance. Using quotations across the text is appropriate but itââ¬â¢s necessary to present them with an introductory sentence, which provides a logical link between the quote and the preceding part of the text. Then you should quote the source and explain the meaning of the quote or your attitude to it.What Are The Most Common Mistakes In The Wr iting Process?Writing an essay isnââ¬â¢t limited in time; you can rewrite it many times, and ask your friends to read your essay. Take advantage of all the opportunities and try to avoid common mistakes.Bad checking is a common mistake in the writing process. Do not think that you can only check spelling in your document ââ¬â you also need to reread your essays and make sure that there are no ambiguous expressions, unsuccessful turns, etc. Examples that you should not take note: I am proud to be able to resist the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco. Study in this university that located in a wonderful place, where there is a lot of Gothic architecture, will be a fascinating problem for me.Tired forewords. An insufficient number of details. Often, an interesting essay loses readability because of enumeration of statements without illustrating them with examples. The essays are characterized by the usual clichà ©s: the importance of hard work and perseverance, learning from mistak es, etc.The verbosity. Essays are limited to a certain number of words, so you need to intelligently dispose of this volume. Sometimes it means giving up ideas or details, especially if they have already been mentioned somewhere or not directly related to the case. Such things only distract the attention of the reader (listener) and obscure the main topic of the essay.Long phrases. The longer the proposal, the better some say so. However, this is far from truth as long phrases do not yet prove the authors correctness, and short sentences often produce a greater effect. Best of all, when long phrases alternate with short ones through the text. Try to read the text aloud and if you feel that you are catching your breath, break the paragraph into smaller paragraphs or give it to your friend/relative to take a short look. A fresh look will help you to see weak parts of the text and fix them.Do not overload the text with too much information. A narrative paper tells a story, which is wh y it is a bit different from a scientific work and does not have to be overloaded with facts and scientific terms. Thus, try to discard words from encyclopedias. Incorrect use of such words distracts the attention of the reader, diminishes the importance of the essay.

Fibonacci numbers and the golden section Article
Fibonacci numbers and the golden section - Article Example Recall that an integer is prime if it has no proper divisors. Some Fibonacci numbers are prime, for example 514229, but it is still unknown whether there exist infinitely many prime Fibonacci numbers. The problem of finding prime numbers with many digits is crucial for the find a very large prime number, you are able to write a secret code that is reasonably safe (this principle is the basis of the Public Key Cryptography, nowadays used by banks and governments all over the world). Suggested readings. We suggest, as a first reading, the following website: http://www.mcs.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/R.Knott/Fibonacci/fib.html. It is well written, in elementary terms, contains a number of illustrations and it explains clearly some applications of Fibonacci numbers to natural sciences. It contains also several links to other websites on the same topic. We suggest to follow the link "Fibonacci numbers in nature": there, you will find applications to family trees of rabbits, cows, geometry, flowers, and vegetables! It is a short, fascinating walk in the real world seen through the mathematicians' eyes. Part of this site is probably too advanced for a non-specialist, but most of its content is certainly accessible. These readings can be the opportunity to learn a little, but very useful, piece of mathematics: the difference equations. A difference equation is a function whose value at n is defined linearly by the value at n-1 and n-2, as in the case of Fibonacci numbers. For such functions, there exist always a closed formula, that is, a formula giving the value at n only as a function of n, with no knowledge of the values at n-1 and n-2. The method is explained at the beginning of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recurrence_relation. In the bibliography, we suggest some elementary books for a further reading. To conclude, I think that this suggested reading is accessible to everybody, it doesn't require any special knowledge in mathematics and it has sufficiently many practical applications in arts and science, to be a fascinating and intriguing subject. Does the internationalisation process model explain the Essay
Does the internationalisation process model explain the internationalization strategy of Lenovo In your view what are the succe - Essay Example Outward investment also includes mergers and acquisitions and it is observed that ODI is steadily increasing due to the increasing productivity of the organizations. However, it has been observed that only productive companies can invest in foreign country operation facilities. There is a huge difference in the steadiness and competitiveness of the companies, which results in different productive indigenousness in the host countries. The study will deal with the various outwards opportunities faced by the Chinese organizations in the last two decades from the developing and developed countries. The recent evolution procedure in internationalization process has helped in the significant growth in the outward foreign direct investment. The developed countries are the main source of ODI for the developing economies, which is increasing steadily. It has been observed that China has been the leading source of ODI since the 1990ââ¬â¢s and it has also helped in cross border investment fa cilities through the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) (Vox, 2008). It has been observed that among all the developing economies, China is one of the highest outward investor and the ratio of outward China has been 17 percent. China earns most of its ODI earnings from its manufacturing operations overseas, joint venture mining activities and also by setting up increasing sales office in the overseas operations (Ning, Lane and Sutherland, 2010). The Uppsala Internationalization Process Model As per authors Johanson & Wiedersheim (1977 cited in Ning, Lane and Sutherland, 2010) the internationalization is an incremental process, which involves no regular export activities, export through independent representatives, production and sales subsidiary. These authors developed a theoretical model regarding the internationalization process model. The internationalization process model focused on the development of the individual business organization and the gradual acquisition, integration of activities and the utilization of the operational facilities for overseas expansion. The basic fundamental aspect of the organization is that lack of understanding of the knowledge, which is an important obstacle in the development of the international operational facilities. These need to be acquired through necessary knowledge about the foreign markets, which can lower the perceived risks and the transaction costs and increase the commitment to the foreign markets (Lou and Tung, 2007).The market knowledge and the commitment will affect both the managerial and commitment decisions. It is assumed in the model that the organization strives to keep the risk taking decisions at lower level. The internationalization model assumes that the state of globalization or internationalization affects the perceived opportunities and the risks, which in turn have the potentiality of influencing the commitment decisions. The model describes the various operational phases especially at the multi s tage level. In the first stage the organizationââ¬â¢s engagement in a particular country develops according to the chain; the chain involves established market pattern of a particular company (Sauvant, Maschek and McAllister, 2009). In the second stage, the organization enters the developed economy with a psychic distance (Environment.fi, 2012). Although, there are various restrictions regarding the internationalization model which is consistent among the different actors. These elements between the actors can only be judged an
